Chemo Companions.
Nobody Should Fight Cancer Alone.
-
Show Up.
After being briefed, Volunteers will report to the medical facility where treatment is being performed, will meet their companion, and begin getting to know them. Volunteers should expect companions to be of various ages.
-
Hold On Tight.
If the patient is comfortable, volunteers will sit beside their companions during treatment. Providing emotional support, and perhaps even a laugh.
-
Follow up.
Volunteers will check in on their companion in the days after treatment, via a phone call, to see how they’re doing and if there is anything they need. Most likely, you’ll make a friend for a lifetime.
More than changing a life.
Chemo Therapy, Infusions, and Radiation Treatments, are not only scary, but take an enormous toll on the human body. What’s worse is some people go through treatment without any friends or family around them. While it’s not scientifically studied, we are certain that a strong support system increases a patient’s will to fight and survive.
